Robert
Whitehead, former
Editor of the Sydney
Morning Herald, will
discuss the aims and scope of Project Sydney, a campaign launched by the paper
on 22 August to get some answers to the continuing failure of government to
implement extensions and improvements to Sydney’s transport system.
Ron
Christie, former Co-ordinator General of Rail, is heading a public examination
of the strategy required to upgrade the ailing system.
Robert Whitehead,
who is now Director of Marketing and Newspaper Sales for Fairfax Media, is an
urban enthusiast who has previously driven SMH coverage of planning
issues in the metropolitan area, of which our members will be aware.
This
promises to be a most interesting talk, at 5pm as usual, following the AIUS
Annual General Meeting at 4pm.
The venue is the Norman Selfe Room, Level
3 of the Sydney
Mechanics’ School of Arts, 280 Pitt Street
(between Park and Bathurst). Entry is free.
